San Jose Sports Hall of Fame

One of the Bay Area's most prestigious sports recognition programs, the San Jose Sports Hall of Fame has been recognizing athletes and coaches from the South Bay since 1995. During this time, the San Jose Sports Hall of Fame has honored over 60 South Bay sports legends including Jim Plunkett, Peggy Fleming Jenkins, Tommie Smith, Becky Dyroen-Lancer, Bill Walsh, Patty Sheehan, Dave Righetti, Anne Warner Cribbs, Ken Venturi and Jennifer Azzi. Each year a select group of distinguished athletes and coaches are welcomed into the Sports Hall of Fame at an induction ceremony held at HP Pavilion at San Jose. Along with honoring the inductees, the Sports Hall of Fame annually recognizes the premier female and male high school and amateur athletes from Santa Clara County as well as the top Special Olympian. The fall induction event annually attracts over 700 people to the Pavilion.

HP Pavilion at San Jose also serves as the home to the San Jose Sports Hall of Fame. Along the walls of the Pavilion’s concourse, beautiful bronze plaques, bearing the likeness of each inductee, are put on permanent display. Easily accessible for public viewing, the bronze plaques include a narrative of each inductee's accomplishments.

The San Jose Sports Hall of Fame program is coordinated and implemented annually by the San Jose Sports Authority, the San Jose Arena Authority, HP Pavilion Management and the City of San Jose. Proceeds from the annual induction event benefit Special Olympics Northern California and Santa Clara County high schools.
