HP Pavilion at San Jose

HP Pavilion at San Jose, home of the San Jose Sharks, opened in September 1993 and has become one of the most popular destinations for sports and entertainment in North America.  Located on the corner of West Santa Clara and Autumn Streets in Downtown San Jose, HP Pavilion at San Jose is 425 feet by 425 feet in length and stands 117 feet high.  With its distinctive glass pyramid entrances and stainless steel facade, the Pavilion can seat 17,483 for hockey, 18,500 for basketball and up to 20,000 for concerts and other events. Owned by the City of San Jose and operated by HP Pavilion Management and the San Jose Sharks, the Pavilion was constructed at a cost of $162.5 million.

Over the course of twelve years of operation, the Pavilion has hosted some of the most memorable events in Bay Area sports and entertainment history, including a number of dramatic NHL Stanley Cup Playoff series; the 1997 NHL All-Star Game; the 1999 NCAA Women’s Basketball Final Four Championship; the annual SAP Open tennis tournament; the 1996 U. S. Figure Skating Championships; and concerts by some of the biggest names in the music industry, including Paul McCartney, the Rolling Stones, Bruce Springsteen and Barbra Streisand.

The Pavilion features 65 executive suites on both the concourse and penthouse levels; a penthouse plaza for social or professional gatherings; a well-appointed restaurant; an intimate club area; and an open, inviting public concourse.  The Pavilion is also home to the San Jose Sports Hall of Fame and features bronze plaques of hall inductees along the public concourse.

Access and parking for Pavilion events is well designed and managed.  There are over 1,600 on-site parking spaces and an additional 8,000 parking spaces within a half mile of the Pavilion.  Public transit options to the building include Caltrain, Valley Transportation Authority bus service and light rail transit service.
