Sharks Ice at San Jose

The Arena Authority has administrative responsibilities of Sharks Ice at San Jose, the San Jose Sharks ice training center that has also become one of the most utilized public ice facilities in the United States.  Originally constructed in 1994 with two sheets of ice, a third rink was built with the addition of the Sharks training facility in 2000 and a fourth rink was added in 2005. Included with the completion of the fourth rink are a new restaurant, expanded locker rooms and a new public entrance.  Located on the corner of Alma Street and South Tenth Street in San Jose, Sharks Ice at San Jose welcomed over 750,000 visitors in 2005.  

 Programs offered at Sharks Ice at San Jose include figure skating, ice hockey, speed skating, ice dancing, curling, power classes, precision teams, weekly public skating sessions and a free use program coordinated through the City of San Jose’s Department of Parks, Recreation and Neighborhood Services.  Additionally, the facility has hosted a number of regional and national ice skating and hockey competitions.  Sharks Ice at San Jose is the home of the San Jose State University and Palmer College hockey teams as well as San Jose Sharks Junior nationally ranked teams.
