In January 2008, the City of San Jose and the Baseball Acquisition Company agreed to extend the lease for the management and operation of San Jose Municipal Stadium, home of the San Jose Giants minor league baseball team. In doing so, the City designated the Arena Authority to perform an oversight role in the management of the minor league ballpark.
Built in 1942, San Jose Municipal Stadium was a federal Works Progress Administration (WPA) project during the presidency of Franklin D. Roosevelt. The original stadium cost $90,000 to construct and featured a seating capacity of 2,900. Since then, the seating capacity has been increased to 4,200 while the Giants established a new attendance record in 2008 with 192,666 fans.

As the operator of Municipal Stadium, the Baseball Acquisition Company is responsible for all day-to-day activities at the stadium.
